In our products

There is a significant online discussion about whether or not 1,4 dioxane in personal care products can cause cancer or other health issues. We closely monitor these discussions as well as the latest official reports from regulatory agencies regarding the safety of 1,4 dioxane. These reports show no link between 1,4 dioxane at the levels present in our products and cancer or other health issues. Similarly, numerous regulatory agencies around the world have determined that 1,4 dioxane poses no harm at the low levels found in personal care products.

The International Cooperation on Cosmetics Regulation (ICCR), a voluntary international group of cosmetics regulatory authorities from Brazil, Canada, the European Union, Japan and the United States, has published an official opinion on acceptable levels of 1,4 dioxane. In their opinion, they propose a 25 ppm maximum allowable presence of 1,4 dioxane in personal care products. We allow even less:

  • Our maximum allowable presence of 1,4 dioxane in our beauty personal care products is below 10 ppm.
  • We have even further reduced the level of 1,4 dioxane in our baby personal care products to the lowest reliably measurable level—below 4 ppm.
